- Optional Flexible Mounting Arm The first "option" that accompanies the basic unit is called a Flexible Mounting Arm, which, essentially, is an alternative to mounting a 2 X 4 in the basement or garage to hook the Laser Unit onto, like mentioned above. This Flexible Arm unscrews from the wall (a small mounting bracket is included) so it can be kept out of the way when not in use. It has a mating magnet at the end of it so the Laser Unit quickly snaps onto the end of the arm.

- Optional Floor Stand with Boom The second option that accompanies the basic unit is a floor stand (with boom). This is a common accessory because it provides portability of the entire system. Coaches and training centers usually purchase this since they move the Batmaxx around a gym or academy.

- Optional External Display The third accessory is the "External Display. This accessory is often requested by coaches/trainers because it provides a duplicate read-out to the Speed Indicator that rests on the floor. This external display has a cable that connects to the Speed Indicator and this External Display then can be hung on a wall or hooked somewhere that coaches can see it better, particularly if they are facing the batter during technique training.
E. The fourth accessory that compliments the External Display is a Floor Stand (without a boom). This allows the External Display to be a free standing display (instead of hanging it on a wall or net). Batters can also use the External Display and Floor Stand during reaction time measurements - by positioning it up-stream from home-plate. It is more natural for players to be looking toward a pitcher rather than down on the ground as they await the Ready-Set-Go sequence on the display.
F. The last accessory is a hard-shell carrying case which holds the External Display, Speed Indicator, and Laser Unit (plus cords, extra batteries, misc. items).

External Display, continued. This external display has two features built into it that enhance the "reaction time" process. This External Display has a bright red light that flashes during the "Ready", "Set", "Go" sequence so players don't really need to read the display, they can use the red light as an indicator. This External Display also has an audio "beeping" signal built into it, also for reaction time measurements. This beeping also correlates with the "Ready", "Set", "Go" sequence on the display so batters can react to the beeping instead of reading the display or seeing the red light. This beeping sound is easily turned on and off with a button on the display box.

- Optional Carrying Case This hardshell carrying case with foam insert holds the BatMaxx core unit and External Display to keep it safe when not in use. There are several additional compartments for batteries and miscellaneous items. Back to Top
2. Will I be missing something if I don't get the external display? What features does it add that the 5500 itself doesn't have? Not having the External Display does NOT prohibit you from conducting bat speed and reaction time measurements. It basically brings the display up off the floor instead of being directly in front of the batter's feet.
But it also has a bright red light, along with an audio-beeper that allows batter to "react" to the indicator instead of reading the display.
By turning the audio beeper on and off, customers can measure the difference when someone reacts to an audio indicator instead of a visual indicator.
